Another Toilet Paper Shortage Could Be Looming...

Well this is crappy news to report.

According to the NY Post, the crisis at the Suez Canal could lead to another toilet paper shortage. The essential trade route has been clogged since earlier this week, when the Ever Given, a massive cargo ship, ran aground due to high winds. Multiple attempts to turn the ship have failed, with experts saying it could take several weeks to dislodge it from the sand. Meanwhile, the 50 ships per day that typically pass through the canal are stuck in limbo with nowhere to go.

Walter Schalka, the CEO of Brazilian wood pulp company Suzano SA, said his firm hasn't been able to transport the raw materials used to make toilet paper due to the back up. They produce about a third of the world's supply of wood pulp, so this delay could have a massive impact on the toilet paper industry if companies don't have enough materials on hand to keep up with production.

Some experts say other products could be in jeopardy as well. Lars Jensen, from a container shipping company in Denmark, told the Mirror that basically anything you see in stores could be affected.

Great.. just what we need when it feels like life is starting to get back to normal just a little bit...

Please don't run out and hoard all the tp!
