Ben Affleck credits one lifelong connection for keeping him "sane" in Hollywood and always keeping it real with him.

The Argo actor spoke very highly of his friendship with Matt Damon, who rose to fame alongside him in 1997 following the release of Good Will Hunting, on the latest episode of New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce.

"We were just f***ing dumb enough to think it would work out for us. That’s part of the gift of being young is, you don’t really see that this could end bad, like, it might not work."

The star revealed that having his "best friend" around when things got "weird" in Hollywood kept him genuine and grounded.

"I see a lot of other people who’ve had success, and the light turns on you, and all of a sudden, it’s a very different experience day to day. People act different, and s*** is weird. Especially in the beginning of that transition [to stardom]. And I really credit my ability to kind of stay sane to having my best friend who’s doing it too and being able to [say], ‘Is this f***ing bananas or what?'"

According to People, Affleck and the Interstellar standout met as children and went on to act in a slew of films together, including The Instigators, The Last Duel, and Air, making their names synonymous. In 1999, Damon told The Los Angeles Times that Affleck was "somebody that everybody wants to be around."

"Ben has always had an incredible charisma. People are just getting introduced to it through film. It's hard to think of your best friend as a movie star, but the fact that he is [stems from] the extent to which parts of the real him come through. He is somebody that everybody wants to be around."
